One of the smallest areas set aside, Raidah lies adjacent to Asir Mountains National park. Covering only (9.33 square kilometers),it protects one of the last remnants of dense Juniper forest found on the Arabian Peninsula.
The unique plant association of this reserve provides habitat for nine of the ten indigenous bird species of SaudiArabia, including the Yemen thrush, Arabian Red-Legged Partridge,Arabian Woodpecker, andYemenLinnet. The reserve also attracts Sacred Baboons, CaracalLynx, and Arabian wolf.
The steep-walled wades are ideal for ibex and offer habitat for other wildlife such as rock hyrax, wild cats, mon-goose,and eagles.it is also a planned reintroduction site for gazelles.
